Effective Chaplain: A Counseling Guide-Habil Otipi Nakhumwa
KSh 590.00This book’s intention is basically a wake-up call to institutional chaplains especially those within disciplined forces, pastors, general counselors in society and pastoral and counseling students preparing for pastoral ministry. Although the look singles out chaplaincy, its open to other pastoral ministry. The book also presents an argument that much as secular counseling is scientific and good, an integrated approach with the Christian approach to counseling is more in its focus. From this point of view, the primary counselor is the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ embodiment as being one who is a wonderful counselor of counseling aspect in disciplined forces will gladly have served its purpose. The book examines a life of an institutional chaplain and those they handle in areas of counseling. This is drawn from my own experiential background as a chaplain without professional training in counseling spending time with troops, commanders and military families who clearly show emotional struggles and whom I have come to love, spending my entire young hood pastoral emerges serving. It is of essence to explain that although in my definition I seem to be reluctant to include any pastor-chaplain as a counselor, it is no way intended to demean the fabulous pastoral and spiritual role they play in daily quenching the mental and emotional issues troops and their families go through integrated approaches

KSh 17,290.00WINNER OF THE ASAUK FAGE & OLIVER PRIZE 2016 This is the first in-depth scholarly study of the literary awakening of the young intellectuals who became known as Nigeria’s “first-generation” writers in the post-colonialperiod. Terri Ochiagha’s research focuses on Chinua Achebe, Elechi Amadi, Chike Momah, Christopher Okigbo and Chukwuemeka Ike, and also discusses the experiences of Gabriel Okara, Ken Saro-Wiwa and I.C. Aniebo, in the context of their education in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s at Government College, Umuahia. The author provides fresh perspectives on Postcolonial and World literary processes, colonial education in British Africa, literary representations of colonialism and Chinua Achebe’s seminal position in African literature. She demonstrates how each of the writers used this very particular education to shape their own visions of the world in which they operated and examines the implications that this had for African literature as a whole.
